ROLLER SNAKES KIDS CLINIC AN INSTANT SUCCESS

Owners and staff came together on the bright Sunday morning of May 23rd to host their very first “Roller Snakes Pro Hockey Kids Clinic” @ Extreme Wheels in Crystal Lake. A great showing of semi-experienced and non-experienced players worked with owners Jason Richmiere, John Naanep & Steve McHugh along with players Jeremy Burton, Jay Winder, Mike McHugh, & Danny Zingerle. The clinic was a huge hit and ran the skaters through a series of drills and textbook plays all leading up to a final shootout competition with award prizes and chance to play an actual game with the Snakes.

Pleased parents watched along with rink owner Bonnie Hunter who was presented an Xtreme Wheels Roller Snakes official jersey @ the end of the 2 1/2 hour session. Players were also awarded Certificates of Completion and DVD Roller Snake Videos signed by the Pro players. The first of many clinics the Snakes will hold after their season starts up again this coming August proved to be a benefit to both the little ones and the Pro’s teaching the game. For more info about Extreme Wheels Hockey Arena and sign-ups for upcoming clinics please contact Steve McHugh @ (847)826-4388. Also stay in tune for the upcoming August season and more updates coming soon.

Sponsor Program a Continued Success

As the Snakes prepare for their summer plans on the rink, off the rink they continue to shed spotlight on their community and sponsors. On April 17th @ 7 p.m players held a “Pro Hockey Demonstration” at Schaumburg’s Friendship Village Retirement Center in front of 40 members and staff. The demo included an explanation of roller hockey/ice hockey differences, a goalie/player simulation, a viewing of the Pro Team video and ended with 20 of the members stepping up and learning to shoot their first hockey puck. With the excitement of the BlackHawks playoff run, the night was a huge success and left community members talking “hockey” and ready for more. The Snakes promise more to come when next month they hold a clinic at Extreme Wheels in Crystal Lake for kids ages 6-14 years old. For more info on sponsorship programs and Chicago Roller Snakes Hockey appearances please contact (Marketing Director) Steve McHugh or (G.M) John Naanep @ (847) 826-4388.

Learning the Ropes “Snakes Take Silver”

“You’re never a loser until you quit trying” & “If you can’t accept losing you cannot win” are the famous quotes from legends Mike Ditka & Vince Lombardi. The real legacy is trying your hardest & looking back in the rear view and saying you got there. No regrets, no complaints, no blame. Just a fast look into the future???? & slowing down, pumping the brakes at the present time, & learning from the past.

As the 2010 Spring Season sings “that’s a wrap” the Snakes end with 2nd place to Detroit in both Pro and AAA while the AA club fell victim to the DC Filibusters. Pro Goalie Steve Tomczyk received the season MVP award & sits on the throne with the title of the league’s #1 goaltender.

The weekend was a learning experience for players and management and next season plans to be a continued success within the organization and Major League Roller Hockey (MLRH). Now run under club savior (G.M)/Owner John Naanep & (Owners) Steve McHugh & Jason Richemiere the Snakes plan to expand their year-round season with MLRH Events, NARCH, and Tour Cup Series. The 3 of them plan on working with league Chairman Doug Jones & President Bill Raue to help MLRH expand in both fans & players throughout the Midwest.

Most of the 3 club teams will resume the same rosters with the addition of a few players they plan to obtain after a series of tryouts held by Naanep and staff. Kate Maroder will resume as (Team Manager), Albert Yu as (Senior Advisor), Eric K. & Alert PC as (Technical Consultants), and a new board will be announced via next month. Hat Trick Arena will remain the team’s home battleground and sponsors are welcomed to join in on the only Pro roller hockey club in all of Chicago. For questions or inquiry’s about how to join in on Chicago Roller Snake Hockey or sponsorship package information please email John or Steve @ miracle8804@aol.com or call the club info line @ (847)826-4388.

“Snakes Bite Again”

“We came, we played, we conquered.” Opposing teams fall victim to the “Snake Bite” as the Pro team goes undefeated in Rivertown, Michigan with 5 wins, many grins,  and a  shot at a Major League Roller Hockey’s $10,000 dollar prize pot. Domination and puck control was the key as Pro goaltender Steve Tomczyk turned to bricks during the most talked about game of the weekend against Detroit. The Revolution tallied 3 goals and over 30 shots while Chicago’s offense helped Tomcyzk on the other end answering back with 9. Other games included the DC Filibusters and Michigan Thunder. Playoff prayers are now answered. “Time to lace up the skates and take a run at the championship!!!!!”

“Rosters for Pro, AAA, & AA looked grim at first since many team leaders were missing this weekend but I think after seeing that “Pure Michigan” sign coming into state the guys were struck by lightning and realized this tournament could be their last,” stated (G.M) Steve McHugh. “Jason, John & myself as owners have never been this proud of anything we’ve done and love each of these guys like family.” The Pro’s played out of their minds, AAA put on an amazing show but in the end fell short, & AA held together and managed to keep up with benches that had double the amount of players to pull out some incredible goals and set-ups.

No single player stole the spotlight as all three teams wrote their names in stone on the walls of Major League Roller Hockey. Chicago is here to stay!!!!!! Here to entertain!!!!!!!! And here to bring more fans than any roller hockey club ever has in Chicago-land.

With the best rink in the Midwest now known as the “Snake Pit” behind them, 31 skaters;  some familiar with each other, some not;  remain part of a pro hockey club that in turn hopes to fund itself and pay players to be a part of the club. Many are to thank for this  first season’s success, but for now it’s safe to say the 2010 Chicago Roller Snakes have one person to thank instead. YOU!!!!

To friends, family, fans, & all those who believed and stood behind us while we had our backs to the wall,, THANK YOU (from the bottom)  & keep posted for more info the Pro team’s 2010 Championship run.

HIGH HOPES AFTER HOME TOURNAMENT

The date (February 27th)! The festival (“Sweet Home Chicago”)! The turnout (one to remember)!

Pro, AAA, and AA divisions battled for victory, pride, and a grand prize of $10,000 dollars in front of 150 spectators, 2 live video cameras, and a combination of Chicago sponsors, family, friends, and inline hockey’s top dogs.  Major League Roller Hockey took the floor in a series of three divisions at Hat Trick Arena and left some fans standing on their heads in the end!!!  The Snakes went (4-0) in the Pro division, (2-0) in AAA, and (2-2) in AA , making headway to a playoff picture nothing short of sweet success and a promising future.

Elite Major League clubs like the Detroit Revolution, Michigan Thunder, & DC Filibusters took part in an outstanding series against all Snakes divisions and gave each crowd plenty of “oohs & ahhs” to cheer about as top skaters like Nick Smolinski and Itan Chavira brought true talent and serious game to the sport courts of the “Snake Pit.” For the Snakes first tournament at home standouts included, (Pro) Goalie- Steve Tomzcyk, Pat Lee, Shane Mytnick, and Junior Velasquez (who managed to light a fire for his team after winning a key fight in the second game), (AAA) Goalies  Evan Markewycz/Chris Lory, Bryan Birman, and Neal Gerber (after scoring a weekend high of 9 goals in 2 games), and (AA) Goalie- Jeremy Burton, Matt Meeuwan, and Dave Canon (who’s proved himself a team leader since the beginning of the organization.)

The club has more than solidified a spot in Major League hearts and is now setting their goals on the next festival in at Rivertown Sports, Michigan on March 13th and 14th. “It’s never easy after sweeping a weekend from visiting clubs,” said owner/player Jason Richmiere, “MLRH is bringing in more skill than ever before and games are all still very unpredictable.” One thing is for sure, a brand new wind of hockey is blowing through the air in Chi-city and reaching many eyes and ears that never found Inline exciting before. This truly could be the breakout year for a brand new Chicago franchise???

SNAKES ANNOUNCE SPONSOR AND ADVERTISING PACKAGES

The Chicago Roller Snakes would like to offer you the chance to be a part of something special. Major League Roller Hockey is back in Chicago and based out of Hat Trick Arena in Palatine. The Snakes are among the first professional teams in Chicago and host a Pro, AAA and AA squad totaling forty players and eight goaltenders. The Roller Snakes history in Major League Roller Hockey dates back to 9 existing years but has “never” claimed national spotlight like this upcoming 2010 season. With all-star talent, experienced management, and a marketing team with extreme power of the press, we offer your business the opportunity to advertise throughout hockey nation and beyond. Right now every skater in Chicago-land is talking about “Roller Snakes Hockey.”

Our team staff and players, along with our team and league websites, will personally service and back all Premium, Gold, & Silver sponsors entitling them to full rights of each packages description.  As business owners ourselves, we understand some are in a better position to sponsor than others, and we’d like to add that there is “no minimum, and no deadline.” Although technically with our new staff this is our first season together, we plan to be around for many years to come and dominate the world of inline hockey while building a club that local young local talent can idolize, respect, and one day dream to be a part of as well.

UPCOMING ROAD TRIP

The return of all-star additions and a franchise that represents all three divisions makes February as the month of the “Snake Bite” in all of Chicago-Land. The definition of a team isn’t brand new jerseys, a (pro) label behind the name, & a flashy website. The season opener in Michigan proved the Snakes are the future of roller hockey here in Chicago & the real deal when it comes to raw talent.

The Roller Snakes next tournament is February 20th and 21st in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the Snakes will face off against the DC Filibusters and the Michigan Thunder.

Sponsors are taking notice and our Pro, AAA, & AA Divisions have skated their names in stone on the walls of Hat Trick Arena representing a club based on pride, respect, and family.

FROM THE FRONT OFFICE

Owners Steve McHugh, John Naanep, and Jason Richmiere plan to take the Snakes Pro, AAA, and AA Divisions and make them a household name throughout Chicago-Land. Due to the rink surface being sport court instead of ice, roller hockey takes much more effort to market and publicize. Since half the team consists of all-star ice hockey standouts at both college and junior levels, Snakes owners aren’t “sweating the small stuff.” They just want to win.

The Snakes practice once a week and play league games at Hat Trick Arena to prepare for the road not-yet taken. See them at the “Snake Pit” or “Hockey Hut” anytime.
